Punctually in time for the iaf 2013, Ba-Be-D Daimer GmbH has brought out the new digital cross-profile measuring device, DQM III. The compact, robust and ultra precise hand-held instrument is used for recording the cross-sections of rail heads in railway track. The manufacturer has fundamentally stayed with the successful concept underlying the preceding generation of this precision device, the DQM II, but the DQM III stands out on account of many optimisations, technical innovations and enhanced user friendliness. The capture of data and its interpretation in real time now use Bluetooth to connect with an external tablet computer, on which the data can be further processed using Windows-based analytical software. In addition, users have the option of switching in an integrated altitude measurement or of computing equivalent conicity using the track-gauge measuring device. The railway-certified test and calibration unit also has good news for clients already in possession of the preceding model, DQM II; they can use the "live" version to benefit from all the advantages of real-time data evaluation.
